Eat, Pray, Love trailer

I spotted the Eat, Pray, Love trailer on my sister's blog this morning and had to share.  Who else is super excited for this?

I haven't read
Gilbert's second book, Committed (it got pretty lukewarm critical reviews), but I'm headed to Dallas for a wedding this weekend and I could use a little plane reading.  Have any of you lovelies read it?  Would you recommend it?

I am a huge Eat Pray Love fan and pre-ordered Committed. While it did not come close to EPL status, I definitely enjoyed learning all the little tidbits about how marriage has evolved and about how Liz came to married again :)

Soooo excited about this movie...I am planning a EPL party for the release complete with yoga, italian and indian food, and lots of girlfriends...fun!

I am not excited about the film. Mostly because I loved the book. I came across the book a couple years after I divorced and had a lot in common with the author and what she was seeking. I do recommend the book, but I know it's not for everyone. I've not read her second book.

I loved the authors' talk on TED awhile back on creativity.

Lucy - What a great idea to throw a themed party for the release! I may just have to steal that one from you...

Kristine - I know what you mean. I always fear that the movie will not live up to the book, but in the end my curiosity tends to win out.

Nina - Thanks for the input. I'd be curious to hear why you didn't like it.

Hey there! I actually really liked the book. I read it in early February on family vacation and then passed it along to my younger brother; he liked it, too. It's quite different from Eat, Pray, Love - a lot more background & history on marriage. I enjoyed it and actually probably liked it more than Eat, Pray, Love. Go for it! :)

I'm reading Committed right now and loving it - she's talking about the history of marriage in society and the church, different theories of what relationships work and which one's fall apart, and all in the context of getting ready to marry her lover/life partner so he won't be deported.

I'm eating it up. I'll have to go back and read Eat Pray Love next.

I've started Committed twice and I just can't seem to get into it. Which isn't like me at all, I usually devour books. I may take it to the beach this weekend and give it another try.

this is a very, very exciting! I love that Julia Roberts is the one staring in it.

I liked certain parts of the book, others, found it boring and contrived. But this looks like typical Hollywood sweetness. I'll rent it for sure! hehe

Thanks, all, for sharing your thoughts!

I LOVED Committed. It is very different from EPL though so I think it helps to go in without expectations for a "sequel". I am so excited about the movie. I was going to reread EPL before seeing it, but I might not just so I'm not comparing them too much. It might be best to just enjoy the movie on it's own first.

I would really love to see the film, but because the book has such a special place in my heart I fear that I would only be disappointed. I read it at a time in my life when I really could identify with the story and the author's yearning for adventure, and her search for authenticity and meaning. I've not read Committed, but yet again I am at a similar place in my life to the story of the book, so I am curious. Let us know if you read it!

I'm looking forward to seeing EPL and living vicariously through her story again...if only... And my therapist recommended "Committed" - showing all the different ideas of what "marriage" truly means - not just the romanticized version.

I'm excited!!! I loved the book so much, and I actually really love Committed so far. Although I am one of those hippie types who doesn't want to get married ever, so it's really interesting to read about the history of marriage.
